If you do not notice the volume knob (it is in a strange spot, but still, there it is), what do you do? Leave a bad review, delete the app. If there are too many functions to "figure out", and you take a manual as an insult, what do you do? Well, yes, you leave a nasty review and complain about wasting SEVEN dollars. Look, there are some quirky things in iVoxel that should have been addressed over time. Yes, the sequencer is slightly fiddly and balky, but it is there, with all the voxels at your disposal for tune writing for your choir of crazy, spectrally shaped voices. This is a remarkable vocal-sound-design tool (warts and all) musical with all sorts of uses. After all the years it has been on the app store, there is still nothing like it. That people have dragged this app down with lazy complaints here rather than sending them to the developer strikes me as odd. Maybe the developer is hard to reach? I have never found one of his apps so confusing I need to make contact. The app is worth exploring and enjoying, even in late 2024. It deserves to get some refinement and update love from Harry for the new year, but that is his call.

This app might be great if they update it! Just purchased today 5/13/22 after reading information about app in the listing. It’s not clear about the microphone connection. Seems like you will need irig 3.5 jack interface. Sound for vocoder only comes through headphone 3.5 jack? Lightning to usb interface does not work for mic connection to use as live vocoder after pressing mic icon. I don’t want to use the vocoder presets. So I cannot use unless I buy irig interface (over $100) not worth it. I have 2x interface units already. AUM does not recognize as IAA or AU, others claim Audiobus does as IAA (shoulder shrug). Lost $7 plus tax on this app, unless they update to au and allow sound to pass through lightning to usb for interface mic connection. Need to be CLEAR ON THAT IN THEIR LISTING. Can be 5 star with update guys! Lost money on this.😞, fingers crossed for update🤞 or I will delete app and move on.

There’s very little I can say that’s good about this. Want help with this app? Too bad. Look it up. Want to export something? Feel free to click help on all 9 tabs. Maybe you’ll figure it out, but if not: thanks for the $7. Now I’m off to buy a better app or a better alternative. What a waste of time.

This is such a great app! Jakob Haq just released a video on vocoders and in all honesty given that the app was on sale I decided to get it as he featured it A LOT. I was quite interested as I HATE inter-app audio and although Jakob isn’t as uptight about this as I am, if he was using an inter-app app, he probably had a reason. This app is a beast! Please fix it’s few issues (import button for example) and make this AUV3. If would be a FANTASTIC AU. 👌🏼 worth it, regardless!

It’s very difficult to get sounds above a whisper. Import button doesn’t work at all. At one time I could import audio by exporting from AudioShare, now that doesn’t work either. IAA doesn’t work in any setup I have tried. Au3 also doesnt work. App is useless.

What else is there to say? Without those features this app is a waste.

There is definitely something wrong with this app on iOS 10, on an iPhone 7 Plus. The first time you press a key it starts looping a clicking sound which sometimes builds in crescendo. No way to stop it; have to kill the app. Completely unusable in its current state.

... and then never again. It's been this way since the beginning. I will not buy ANYTHING else from these guys because of this. I just wanna punch this app in it's stupid smiley face!

Just bought as it sounded interesting and might be useful with music. Total failure. Mostly just plays loud clicks. Controls sort of work and can load built-in samples, but playback does not work at all. Just clicks and a bit of background hiss and noise. Contacted support today 22 Nov, and will update based on response. Demo video at developer website shows it used to work, maybe OK on older hardware and iOS version. If so, need to identify what is and is not compatible!

DONT GET IT IT IS JUST A PIANO

I has been reading the reviews and saw how this great vocoder, possibly the best on iOS, just eroded away to the point where it didn't even work. Combined with how far back the last update was, I didn't take any chances and just waited. Patiently. And I knew it would happen! Well, I hoped anyway, that eventually an update would come out of nowhere and it would be back in business. So I downloaded (on sale to boot!) and it's everything I hoped it was. I see now why it was the go to choice in so many demos a year or so back. My only quip is that I've had a few times where it just stops playing audio, not sure why, and only when sampling the demo sounds/settings. That, combined with the sequencer either not working correctly or there not being good "help you get started" help contextually available... Makes it hard to give it 5 stars. A solid 4? For sure. Thanks to their team for bringing this back to life, I am super stoked and it's worth every penny! It was the missing piece I've been needing to fill for quite a while now. Nothing else out there fit the bill, at least not on this platform or anywhere near this price. Again, thank you!

This is one of the best sounding vocoders hands down. (Been trying to emulate this sound with various vocoders for months!) I desperately want this to work for an upcoming performance. I'm mortified it's not working with my new iPhone (that I got just to use this app) please, pleeeeeeease, fix it to work on the new operating system.

Works for 10 secs then nothing. ios9 issue? Would be nice if you communicated what's happening since I just gave you my money.

Great tool, but current release volume is too low to be of real use, and I can't figure out a way to fix it.

Really cool but needs an update . But still so Kraftwerk encrusted I use it as a robot go to constantly and just wish it could sample and speak as a default .peace christo

Used to work perfectly for me in iOS 5,6,7. In iOS 8 it runs properly but there is no longer any sound. Maybe due to Audiobus issues? Figure by Propellerheads & Junglator give the iOS 8 Audiobus error when starting but I still get sound from those programs. Please update with full support for iOS 8 with Audiobus. I want to rate this app 5* again. UPDATE: version 2.7.0 on September 19 fixed the Audiobus & no sound issues. Unfortunately the right side of the screen is now black on my iPhone 4S for this app so the keys & knobs on that side can't be operated. Getting closer. 😎I've emailed the developer so hopefully it'll be fixed soon. UPDATE 2: Version 2.7.2 fixed the iPhone 4S display issues mentioned above. A+ developer for responding so quickly to users' issues with app.

My keyboard works flawlessly with other apps, but this one leaves me with stuck notes, keys staying pressed down when I release from the keyboard. I want to use the app more, but can't when this stuff keeps happening.

I found 1 voxel to use and I had to edit it to get the word from the phrase. I couldn't get the sequencer part to play a sound. Worked ok when linked to meteor though so ok.

What happened to the audio bus feature in the input carrier section? You know where it says sawtooth, pulse, ect. Please re-fix and I will add stars. :(

This app is presently not the best vox type app on the market, however it is still a great vocoder and worth it if you can get it on sale. Currently, the sounds you can create feel a bit limited to me, and some features don't work quite the way they should in general. It needs a bit more development, so keep up the great work!

This app is quite entertaining, but it has issues with recording voxels and the sequencer. When I make a recording and try to put it in the sequencer to make a song, it somehow messes up or ignores the edits I made to the voxel. It would also be nice if the sequencer could make a voxel play faster if the time the voxel takes to play is shorter than the length of time I want it to be held in the sequencer. Thank you.

Can you please put voice samples in for the sequence so we can type what we want? I live this app and i thought if you did this, it would appeal to more people

Been loving this a long time and had to say that even though there are numerous vids showing of "revolutionary ways of effecting sound by putting in the middle of Audiobus" I bought it for that purpose originally. I missed that nice pad stuttered by drum track sound that is somewhat easily accomplished and maybe a bit played but COOL NONETHELESS! This app is tight and has never let me down for that matter all their apps are top notch. So thanks for some great tools!

So far this is not worth 9.99 to me. I'm sure I don't speak for everyone but to me it sounds kinda cheap. Buy with caution.

I love this app and i use it live a lot - I really depend on the auto following feature that worked great until the latest update, now it's ruined could yo please fix that or how can a revert to the last version? The iphone version auto following is not working on the iphone.

Not only audiobus but backround audio too? Nice virsyn. The auto pitch algorithm is buggy in this update, last update it wasn't all over the place, it's unusable, hope virsyn fixes this, but as a vocoder it's fabulous, and it works great with audio bus.. Good job with this update, 4 stars cause if the bug

Great app! Please include audiobus support. I love the effects and depth of the manipulation of this app. The last step is audobus support. Websites list apps with audiobus support, so if that is added, downloads would definitely rise up. Please add, it makes actual music creation with this app tons and tons easier!!! One of my main DAWs on my ipad cant import files at all, so a audiobus would be very very appreciated!!!!

This app can be a little confusing at times. But for what it is-- it is very nice. Always a fan of this app!!! They have great customer support if you have any issues!!!

So I'm on the couch/bus/plane/spaceship/time-machine or whatever and I want to ivoxel a loop or sample I've been working on in some other app and suddenly, doh, now I need iTunes, a computer, cable to connect them, blah blah blah. Maybe there's good reason why one cannot import from the pasteboard, I don't know. It's my own fault I didn't research thoroughly before purchasing. Anyways, I haven't used the app much (since I just purchased it) so don't take this as a full review. I just wanted to point out lack of pasteboard import. Otherwise the app seems alright. My first impression of the sequencer isn't all that great, but maybe it just takes some time getting used to.

still experiencing some problems with audio in sounding clear. I'd like to be able to sing and not peak the pants off the patch. It seems to be way too hot or way to quiet and muffled whatever I do. Sidenote, I use alesis IO dock with an SM58 going into iVoxel. It would be cool as well if there were more options for just regular singing/ midi based auto harmonies replicating your clean voice. I would very much like to not have to use my tc helicon products one day if I can just have it all happen through the ipad

lowering my rating because im no longer happy with this app and its inability to be used as a simpke device for using in my recordings or videos , waste of my time and money , first of all the new version isnt as cool as the old one , but the old one doesnt actually record directly in the app , you have too download your recordings to a computer or another app then open it ! Just idiotic ! maybe the new version is better with that i dont know , but the new version has a much more limited keyboard abilities and im not happy with that at all !! the makers took a great keyboard design and messed it completly up trying too copy everybody elses current trendy designs . and i just realized i cant record using an irig adaptor to a recorder like i do on most apps , it just doesnt work on this one ! so as far as funtionality for using in songs or videos this app is useless and crap for me ! all i can use it as is a live toy , and im annoyed with that ! Im glad I have the original version saved as I prefer it Personally as I like the wide range of keys to choose . What happened to the amount of keys you can have on the keyboard !? It used to be 3x as many keys , I cant find how to adjust that and I REALLY prefered the original amount of keys as compared to this new limited version . Other than that problem , which is big for me as i use a wide note range , The update is really nice !! If i find a keyboard adjustment ill raise my rating again. Thanks

I've got to say that i have always loved the sound quality of this app, but must give huge kudos to the developer for some very well thought out upgrades. Love the tracking feature, excellent instructions, and improved ease of use. A decade ago this level of functionality would have probably cost $500. It's hard to believe this is so inexpensive. You younger people don't know how good you've got it with the current technology.

I'm going to have to admit.If I had written a review based off the first version of this app,it would have been decent at best,with emphasizes on lack of features and performance.I didnt,I took the higher ground by thinking this app had a lot of potential,but how many updates would it take to get there. they did! this app is really a useful tool now towards music production, and not just a cheesy toy to play with while waiting in the doctors office(I'd rather watch Vevo truthfully for that),lol . I could list all the capabilities here but it would be a long and imaginative list geared towards future creations. so in keeping it short, you simply should take my word for it and buy this app, you won't be disappointed,trust me.Then you can follow my review with a more detailed one I'm sure. great job you guys and girls on your launch of Version2.!! Fantastic vocorder. Sounds great, lots of flexibility, good performance. This upgrade adds a lot of cool features and a great UI upgrade. The MIDI implementation still has some holes, but it is much improved and works very well in the background with virtual MIDI. It does need a few more cc-assignable items (you can control vibrato and gender with cc's but not the big obvious things like Volume and cutoff). That's what I need anyway.. Still, I am giving this 5 stars as a super value for the money, a usable and unique instrument leagues above other ios vocorders. Would be fun to be able to switch voxel with a foot pedal, too! Thx for the upgrade.

The interface is confusing which takes a lot of the fun out of it. Why does it open with built in samples? Who cares? I want to start of using my own voices. It should focus on vocoding, and leave it to other apps to record and sequence. I also agree with the other reviewer, the icon is hideous. Hire a good UI designer since this was obviously designed by an engineer/developer. I just bought Voice Synth which has a much better interface and more fun to use.

Quite a high quality vocoder sound here..I love the editing capabilities, and the polyphony of this "software". It's amazing this VSM201 syled unit hands-down beats most outboard vocoders on the market today...such as the Electro-Harmonix V256...all for 12 dollars? All I can say is...cough--> technish, logisch, funktionell...prototypisch und speziell...midi-kontrolle vom computer...iVoxel to the Future--danke Herr Florian Schneider? LOL BTW I disagree with the other review about the icon...please don't change it...vibe! :)

I purchased this app and it crashes upon launching every time. I deleted the app and re-installed it through from iTunes By syncing, and also again through the app store page. Both times the re-installs did the same thing. I am using iOS 5, so I don't know if that is the problem or not.

This vocoder sounds great and is very cool with the iPad's built in mic. However, it really needs to have better adaptability with the Alesis io dock. You can use midi with it but the mic inputs only worked the first time I used the app (they still work in garage band). Also, the audio output only goes through the iPad's built in speaker. I am going to hold out hope that they release an update to fix this.

No sound under iOS5. Otherwise, Works as described. As vocoders go this might be a good one for you, especially for the price. Akai support is nice but would also like to see Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer support so the keyboard can be played from any MIDI controller. Looking forward to more updates.

Absolutely stupid interface, stupid engine and whole stupid crap! I did recording and when you finished app was crash immediately! I can't to understand how, how developers decided about that? It's not for sale! It's for test only!

Crashes immediately now. Used to work!!! Fix it or give me my $$$ back!
